Re: New Single Wear You to the Ball Release
It was in 2019, when Malachi Smith appeared on the Eugene Gray’s production, American Roots of Jamaican Music at Nova Southern University Campus in Davie, Florida. Smith’s scintillating performance of Hugh Roy and John Holt’s classic, Wear You to the Ball, captivated the audience. Malachi was approached by several persons after the event and was encouraged to record an updated version of the classic. The request is now a reality.
In August 2019, Malachi and the Fantels, Hal Lewison, Leon Brown, and Ladely Brown, went into Eugene Grey’s studio and recorded the single.
Eugene Grey played on all the instruments with the exception of the drums which was done by Osbourne Elliott. Grey also handled the recording and mixing of the single.
Wear You to the Ball is on Malachi’s 4-M Records label, a subsidiary of 4-M International Productions.
It is being distributed by CD Baby, and it is available on all digital platforms.
