“This is where Jamaica began for me, with my Mother, Hyacinth Williams, marrying my father, she became a Moncrieffe. “My Mommy, ah di best Mommy!” Plays deep within my brain, pulsating, and radiating throughout my core…My Mommy, showed & shared her culture, as Claude McKay & Miss Lou were known at home. I was born in Brooklyn, NY im the 70’s. Mommy wrote her first book in 1983 (I happily republishedit last year), started her own record label, started her own company, was an avid activist in her community in the USA, because she knew what it was to suffer, struggke, andcto do woth less. My Mommy taught me how to to hold my head up high. She gave back until she gave away…But she always had a love for Jamaica, visited , and through her eyes, I became fascinated. My Mommy immersed my sister Denise & I into our ancestry, down to designing & making our clothes, a huge storyteller, awesome cook, and had a vibe that simply made you have to jump & dance, get-up & prance…

*Oh, the dances! The foods, the people, the music, the groove,*
*Swaying and Flowing to a riddim,*
*all of their own.*
*Deep Within the core of our beings,*
*steady, firm, like the beating of the Congo drum, the Lub Dub of our hearts…*
*JAMAICA!*
*My eyes are full of tears, my heart, caresses you with love..*
*Yuh affi feel it.*

*I set out on a mission to discover who my people were, past the negativity taught, the unfairness brought, the differences, yet our sameness.*

*The journey will take many lifetimes, it’s our duty to let it be known. Our Poets, Storytellers, Singers, CREATORS OF CREATIVITY…Yes, WE,*

*JAMAICA!*
I speak because it is your blood that runs through my veins, beats in my heart, fuels my brain, It is YOU, that Mommy taught me, Over & Over, “If at first you don’t suceed, you try, & try, & try again”… The VOICES of the CREATIVES are getting louder & louder. Are we listening & getting prouder? Or are we joining in, just as we begun, Jamaica, Jamaica, “Out of Many, We Are One.”

This is the fire & fuel I grew up with, that no matter what, you keep on going. So, I had to start looking at where this came from. Where does this style, flare, talent, and courage as a people come from & what do you do with all that ENERGY? You reflect within Creativity.
